Understanding dementia requires more than information — it requires clarity, structure, and guided interpretation. Every phase in this course builds on the depth of the previous one, linking the neurological, behavioural, emotional and daily-living realities together.
Throughout the course, certain medical, legal and financial considerations are highlighted to support your understanding of the wider context of dementia care. These references are informational only. Launex™ does not provide medical, legal or financial advice, and learners are expected to consult the appropriate qualified professionals for guidance relating to any topic addressed within these phases.
Your study options exist to give you flexible access to the full learning structure, not to break the programme. If you choose a smaller option, you are simply accessing the material in stages — not a reduced version of the learning.
Here’s how each option works inside the full Launex™ Family Pathway:
Choose the Family Pathway Full Course + Live Training
The Family Pathway full course option is suitable for anyone, regardless of where you are in the dementia journey. The full course builds knowledge that is applicable and transferable across every stage. The live sessions deepen your learning with real-life interpretation, practical translation, and training that extends far beyond the written material.
Choose the Family Pathway Full Course – Self-Study + 3 Live Sessions
This option gives you targeted guidance for the three most complex phases (Phases 5–7) while completing the rest independently. It offers focused training where interpretation matters most — but it does not replace the depth, weekly application, and real-life translation offered in the full 9-week live training programme. Choose this route if you want essential clarification for the advanced phases, while understanding that the broader practical training and ongoing applied learning are only available in the full live training.
Choose a Family Pathway Pack Option
Structured learning for individuals who want to complete the full programme in two clear stages.
The Pack Options are ideal for learners who prefer to build their understanding step-by-step while still following the complete Launex™ pathway from early foundations through to the advanced behavioural, neurological, legal and emotional stages.
Pack 1 (Phases 1–4): Phases 1–4 are designed to be learned independently as they build your foundational understanding of dementia and the principles of safe care and practical needs.
Pack 2 (Phases 5–9): Building on the foundations established in the earlier phases, Pack 2 deepens and expands your dementia knowledge across the behavioural, neurological, emotional and progression-related stages. Phases 5–7 cannot be completed independently — these stages require guided interpretation to ensure the learning is applied safely, accurately, and with the depth their complexity demands. The included live sessions provide the expert training needed to translate these advanced concepts into day-to-day reality with confidence.
Choose a Family Pathway Individual Phase
If you want to begin your learning journey slowly or focus on one area at a time, Phases 1–4 can be studied individually without losing depth or value. Each of these phases teaches essential foundations that the later stages build upon — they are not ‘lighter’ or ‘less important’ versions of the full course.
Phase 2, in particular, introduces the core principles of safe care, duty of care and safeguarding — knowledge that many overlook and that families rarely receive. Understanding these principles early protects both the person and the family throughout the dementia journey.
Phases 5–9 are not offered individually because they require guided interpretation and behavioural application to be implemented safely and correctly.
Study Options
Every study option includes access to the phase(s) you purchase, downloadable course materials, and the complete set of Practical Tools from the Launex™ Toolbox for use at home. You can study on any device — laptop, tablet or phone. Each option gives you structured Launex teaching, clear explanations, and structured pathways that help you understand, interpret, and confidently apply what you learn.

Why this option matters Families often feel confident with early learning, then become overwhelmed when dementia behaviour, progression, and neurological changes begin to surface. This option ensures you: Build full pathway knowledge across all 9 phases Avoid misinterpreting behaviours or progression Receive training on interpretation at the point it becomes essential, not after things have gone wrong It bridges the gap between self-study and real-world complexity.

Who this is for:
Anyone beginning their foundational understanding of dementia. Individuals who want to start learning in a manageable, introductory structure. Individuals building confidence before progressing to the deeper behavioural and neurological stages.
Why this option matters Dementia doesn’t progress randomly — and learning shouldn’t either. These packs allow you to: Focus on what’s relevant right now Build understanding in the correct order Avoid jumping ahead into complex stages without preparation Step into understanding and learning when dementia becomes more behavioural and neurological.
What’s Included (specific to Pack 1):
Access to Phases 1–4 Phase Assessments (1–4).
Dementia Care & Understanding: A Family Pathway – Pack 1 – Self-Study £ 132.00
This option is available for Pack 1 (Phases 1–4) for families who would benefit from guided clarification alongside independent study. Families selecting this option complete the Pack 1 self-study content and join one scheduled live group training session delivered as part of the Full Family Pathway live course intake. The live session provides: Guided explanation of key concepts from the early phases Opportunity to ask questions and check understanding Reassurance around early signs, safe care foundations, and decision-making Participation is limited to the session that aligns with Phases 1–4. This option does not include interpretation training and does not replace the structured live training provided in later phases of the pathway. Live sessions are accessed when the relevant session takes place within the scheduled course intake.
Dementia Care & Understanding: A Family Pathway – Pack 1 – Self-Study + Live £ 199.00
Dementia Care & Understanding: a Family Pathway – Pack 2 – Live
Pack 2: Self-Study (Phases 5–9) + 3 Live Training Sessions (Phases 5–7)
Who this is for:
This pack is designed for learners who already have a foundational understanding of dementia and are entering the more complex stages of progression. It is suitable for: Families experiencing behavioural, neurological, or decision-making changes. Individuals who understand early dementia concepts but now need training on interpretation. Learners who recognise that mid- and later-stage dementia cannot be safely understood through reading alone.
Why this option matters As dementia progresses, changes become less predictable and more neurologically driven. At this stage, misunderstanding behaviour, risk, or intent can lead to inappropriate responses, unsafe decisions, or unnecessary distress. This pack explains why: Interpretation becomes critical, not optional. Behavioural changes require contextual understanding, not surface explanations. Support is most effective at the point of change, not after things escalate. This option bridges the gap between self-study and real-world complexity.
What’s Included (specific to Pack 2):
Access to Phases 5–9 3 × Live Group Training Sessions for Phases 5, 6, & 7 Live training sessions are delivered in line with the scheduled Full Course live intake dates. Participants join the relevant sessions when the live training sessions reach those phases of the course. (Focused on Phases 5, 6 & 7 – where interpretation is critical) Phase Assessments (5–9)
Dementia Care & Understanding: A Family Pathway – Pack 2 – Live £ 369.00
These product options includes a defined set of live training sessions. If you would like to access additional live sessions beyond those included in your programme, you are welcome to upgrade to a higher-level course that provides extended live training access.
Individual Phase Study (Self-Study)
Who this is for:
This option provides focused learning for early-stage dementia, where individual phases can stand alone and be applied safely without training for interpretation. It is designed for situations where a family needs understanding around early signs, foundations of safe care, consent, capacity, or early home routines, before dementia progression or behavioural change becomes a factor.
Why this option matters In the early stages of dementia, specific questions often arise before broader progression is evident. These foundational phases can be studied independently because they address: Recognition of early changes Safe care principles Decision-making frameworks Establishing supportive routines at home As dementia progresses, understanding must also progress — particularly when behaviour changes, neurological decline, and daily life are affected. At that point, standalone study is no longer appropriate. Important note: Phases 5–9 are not offered individually because they require training for interpretation and behavioural application that cannot be delivered in isolation.
