What the Launex™ Dementia Support Group Membership Is

The Launex™ Dementia Support Group Membership for Team Leaders, Senior Leaders, Deputies, and Managers is a safe, structured space that brings together leadership-level professionals who oversee dementia care practice in care homes or agencies. It provides a confidential environment where leaders can openly discuss the operational, emotional, and organisational pressures that come with guiding teams, supporting staff under pressure, resolving complex care situations, and maintaining standards under demanding conditions — all without breaching workplace confidentiality or GDPR boundaries.

It is designed to give leaders a place to talk honestly about the realities of managing people, handling difficult situations, supporting families, and navigating organisational expectations. Members use this space to debrief after demanding days, share professional experiences that shaped their decisions, explore different approaches to persistent challenges, and strengthen their ability to lead with clarity and stability. It is also a space where leaders can reflect, steady themselves, and reconnect with their own wellbeing while learning from others who hold similar responsibilities.

Every member joins a fortnightly online Zoom meeting with others who share the same role and level of responsibility. These meetings focus on real-life leadership challenges and the practical decision-making pressures that leaders face each day.

This membership is conversation-based, peer-driven, and non-clinical. It is not a replacement for medical advice or training. It is a supportive structure that helps leaders think clearly under pressure, learn from one another, and explore better ways to respond to dementia-related situations within the boundaries of organisational compliance and good practice.

Each Launex™ Dementia Support Group is formed based on the type of dementia responsibility a member carries:

  1. Family & Individuals
  2. Independent Carers
  3. Professional Carers
  4. Team & Senior Leaders

Each group has its own Zoom meeting because each group experiences dementia differently, works at a different pace, and makes decisions at a different level.

All Launex™ Dementia Support Groups follow the same simple structure:

  • What challenges did you face?
  • How did you handle it?
  • How did others handle something similar?
  • What worked and what didn’t?
  • Where did you feel stuck?
  • Where do you need support and from who?
  • What do you actually need to improve care?

The support group members chooses the topics naturally based on their recent experiences.
Launex only steps in to:

  • guide the conversation if needed
  • reinforce person-led care
  • maintain safety
  • encourage better communication
  • keep boundaries intact

This is a peer-led support space.
This membership does not include calendar access or one-to-one support. Coaching and training are offered separately where clearly identified.

Rated 5/5 by Launex™ Dementia Support Group leadership members for professional clarity, peer support, and long-term stability.

If you need additional support between our meetings, you can contact the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline for specialist advice from Dementia UK.

Who it is for: Team leaders, senior carers, shift leaders, care-home managers, and operational leads.

Why this is for you: Team leaders make operational decisions under pressure. They balance family concerns, staff capacity, resident safety, regulatory expectations, and the emotional demand that comes with leading dementia care. This group gives leaders a protected environment to share what strategies actually work in real-world conditions — including approaches that have failed, and why.

It is a space to collaborate on realistic solutions for understaffed shifts, financial constraints, and time-limited care delivery, while still maintaining person-centred and person-led care even when resources are stretched. It is a collaborative environment where leaders can think together about realistic ways to lift standards, improve daily practice, and find practical solutions within financial and staffing constraints. This group gives leaders a protected space to talk honestly about what works and what doesn’t — to share strategies, test ideas, compare approaches, and find collaborative solutions.

  • Discuss leadership-based challenges
  • Explore decision-making reflections
  • Learn how others lead under pressure
  • Strengthen team communication
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and residents
  • Share lessons without discussing identifiable events

This course gives carers the clarity, confidence, and practical understanding they have been looking for. You will learn what safe care looks like, what you can expect of a carer and what does not form part of their duties. You will learn the mechanicals of dementia — from the first changes through daily care realities, the emotional journey, and the different types of dementia and how they naturally progress.

You will discover how these progressions influence thinking, behaviour, communication, safety, and everyday life. You will gain a clear understanding of how dementia operates in the human brain and why certain behaviours emerge as a form of communication. Most importantly, you will learn how quality of life can still be protected and nurtured throughout the entire journey, and that Launex will continue to support you even after the care journey reaches its natural end.

Launex™ Coaching gives families and carers a place to work through the emotional weight of the dementia journey—everything from feeling overwhelmed, carrying guilt around difficult decisions, navigating changing relationships, and balancing your own life while the dementia world keeps expanding into it.

Coaching helps you make sense of the moments that leave you unsure, unheard, or stretched thin. It supports you as you adjust to the shifting personality of someone you love, manage responsibilities that arrive without warning, and face the uncertainty of what the future might hold. Longer coaching blocks give you steadiness over time—a place to return to, reflect, regain your footing, and develop the personal capacity you need to support both yourself and the person you care for.
